Instant love!
The first time I heard this song I absolutely LOVED it. It made sense when I found it was co-written by Johnny Rzeznik - one of the world's most gifted song writers. What a collaboration! I hope this was just the first of many works by these two amazing guys.
PERFECT STARTER
I believe this was the perfect choice to start the CD with. Up beat, catchy sing along song. Not too far in style from what his present fan base was used to. Kept our attention through to the next song, like each song should. I felt he was making a decleration to all of us, current adoring fans and future (to anyone who's listing) We're his inspiration to stand against the difficulties of this industry, cause we love and we bleed (56,000,000 votes worth of love and bleeding fingers dialing those phones). He stole our soles with his wonderful musicianship and God given abilities and gifts, but I think we stole his as well and it set him free to do what his Soul has been longing for.
Thats my spin and I'm sticking to it.

Cant remember if it's on the ITunes list, I think it is. Hopefully that means it's a future single. So far thats what direction it's going with the rest on the list.

First Song On His Album
David Cooks first song, "Declaration" on his debut album, is very good. It makes a lot of sense. When the song says "to anyone whos listening", I don't really know what that means for declaration. But I'm guessing that declaration means trust and he trusts everyone that pass attention to what he has to say. That's what I'm guessing, I'm not sure though. If you know, can you please tell me, really want to know?

working with Cavallo and Rzeznik, I am NOT one bit surprised that I LOVE this song... I love this entire CD, I haven't once felt the need to skip a track to get to another, and I have listened to it over and over and over.
And I will say with some sadness that I'm very sorry I didn't watch AI last season so that I could have found you sooner... I watched only the last episode because the curiosity was killing me...
When I heard you were working with Rob Cavallo, I knew this would be a great CD. When I heard you were writing with Johnny Rzeznik I knew that I would definitely be buying this disc. He is a great songwriter, and I am a huge fan of his work in and out of the Goo Goo Dolls.
I just have to say Thank You, David. I know even without the Idol win, I probably would have eventually stumbled upon you. You are very talented and your humility is endearing. Don't let fame change you too much.

Freaking amazing live
Declaration was freaking amazing live in LA (Kimmel show.) It was as if an electric current ran from David to the audience and back. Talk about hairs going up on the back of your neck! I think it is a real testament to David's artistry and experience and the tightness, talent and creativity of all the guys in the band that the live versions of the songs meet and usually surpass the album versions. Being freaking awesome live is somewhat of a lost art in this overproduced lip-sync age. Kudos and cannot wait for the tewer!

My inspiration.....
Okay, I know this will sound corny, but every time I hear this song, I picture a music video (which does not yet exist.) I envision David, standing on top of a HUGE mountain, arms open wide, camera panning all around, and he's shouting to "anyone who's listening" that he's here, and here to stay. This is such an inspiring piece of musical genius. I Couldn't love this album any more!!!!!

As per the title, David is indeed making his declaration known to his fans. When he first performed it on SNL, I was so blown away. If it were to be a follow-up single, it will certainly fare better.

When I first heard this song on SNL, I wanted MORE!!!!! I listen to it all the time and it's the perfect song to start the album! This is my favourite song on the album(besides all of them). I love this song! It has a great hook and it stays with me all day long!! (well, and the fact that I listen to it over, and over, and over..) It has the sound of a great rock anthem! But the lyrics are amazing too! And of course as great song go, it could have many meanings to different people. When I first heard this song, I just wanted to get up and rock and dance around...but then when I listened to the lyrics, I wanted to give you a big hug. I felt as if you were talking to us, the fans, and about finally being able to be free to write and perform your music. But that you had to give up life as you knew it, and that you feel alone in the business of things. You just want to play your musis and hope that we like it. Well, you don't have to worry. We love your voice, your music, your personality...we love you when you are being you. Some people might see this song as a classic unrequited love song or even a prayer to God. But irregardless, that's the beauty of your music and lyrics....they transcend age, gender, status, experience....they just are.

Every time I hear those lines I think of all the imperfect souls inside this perfect world. Awesome.
It is a great rock song. The drums and the guitar especially at the end are outstanding. And of course David sings it flawlessly. I heard somewhere that David wrote this about his music for his fans if that is true Thank You David. I love it.

Great Collaberation!
David co-wrote this song with Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and it has that same huge anthem like formula to it that many of Johnny's song are known for. This song is going to rise to the top of the charts if it gets released as a single. It's another get-up-and-dance song that will get the crowd onto their feet at a concert.
