LYRICS

Here in this crowd I'm feeling all alone
Turn me around and point me back to home
I'm getting lost more every day and I can't tear myself away
From the stars in my eyes with no light

Here are my terms, have some faith in me
And I'll let you be who you need to be

Life on the moon couldn't be any stranger
Life on the moon wouldn't feel as far away
The life that I knew it's through and I'm gonna need you more than ever
I'm alone in this crowded room, it's like life on the moon

Float off the ground, my hands up in the air
Self conscious to a fault with all the people everywhere
It's getting harder every night to take the punches left and right
Just to know that you're here by my side

Here are my terms, have some faith in me
And I'll let you be who you need to be

Life on the moon couldn't be any stranger
Life on the moon wouldn't feel as far away
The life that I knew, it's through and I'm gonna need you more than ever
I'm alone in this crowded room, it's like life on the moon

Getting lost in my own atmosphere
Stars in the sky are the stars in my eyes
It's the cost of getting out of here alive

Life on the moon couldn't be any stranger
Life on the moon wouldn't feel as far away
The life that I knew, it's through and I'm gonna need you more than ever
I'm alone in this crowded room

Life on the moon, life on the moon
The life that I knew, it's through and I'm gonna need you more than ever
I'm alone in this crowded room, it's like life on the moon
Life on the moon

the lyrics are amazing

As David was going through Idol, a concistent thought was how mind blowing this whole experience was for him and the others. To go from obscurity and broke to the magnitude of change that one audition brought to his life. All the stardom and Hollywood chaos and going through it alone for some. How TOTALLY weird, foreign and overwhelming it might be. When I heard this song, that's exactly what it brought me back to. SOOO relevant to his experiences in the last year or so. Brought my thoughts about it to a deeper understanding of his feelings, as I intepreted it anyway. Beautiful job, in all aspects of the song. One of my Favs.

The song is pretty good. It would be strange if we had live forms up in the moon. Know what, we were so close to living up there. See, a few 100 years ago, the moon had gases, like atmosphere gases, gases that are breathable. But unfortunately, the moon didn't have enough gravity for the atomsphere to stay on the moon. So, the gases just floated off the moon. But NASA, said that we're one step closer to living on the moon. Maybe it won't be strange in the future, but right now, it is.

oh my gad david this song is the best song i had ever heared

I wish I could taste things like David...

David, this is my favorite. It's amazing how you put into words how I felt during a difficult time in my life. When my father was dying of cancer, I left my place of employment of 15 years (nurse at a hospital) to move back home. It sums up how I felt trying to acclimate to a new job, care for my dying father, and reconnect with God. David, you are such an incredibly talented and attractive person. I would LOVE to see a video made with this song. I would also LOVE to buy a drink from you sometime. Love and God bless!

I love all of David's songs-ever since the beginning of the show I had him picked out- but this one has stood out to me in such an amazing way. This is absolutely my favorite and I just hope this one doesn't get on the radio, because that kills a song for me.

I Love this song too. I think of David's life after Idol and what he was going through.

I swear, I am still mooning over this song. LOL!!

Indeed David is describing his Idol experience, as surreal and unreal, and it's akin to living on the moon. Definitely heartfelt, I must say. In fact, I can even feel connected to that song.

It very evident how you've been feeling. You put it into words like no one else could. Also obvious you have a good head on your shoulders and have handled sudden stardom with wisdom, grace ...like a champ! I must also take this moment to say that I never tire of this album... the whole thing..awsome!!!

Anticipation...more DC, Please!!!

This song is so fitting as far as David's experience on AI and all that he had to go through to get to where he is today. I love it!

I have so many favorites but this is definetly one of them. I love the lyrics. If we were in a crowded room together I could point you my way for sure!!!hehe... Cuz I definetly have faith in you...I know you will go far.

This song is very chilling! Musically, it is so haunting with the raspy voice and the strumming on the guitar and keyboard. When I first saw the name of the song, I wasn't sure what to think. But when I heard the lyrics, it became very evident and real. It's hard to even imagine how rapidly reaching superstardom status must be very surreal...disconnected. This song really captures the essence that everything has a price. I just hope that David knows that we are not all hollow people. It may sound cliche, but we really do want him to be happy. And even if he stumbles along the way, that's ok. We will still be there. And the next time he feels alone in a crowded room, not recognizing a single face, I hope he can take comfort in knowing tthat WE are there to SUPPORT HIM! We just want him to be himself and to forget about the rest. It's just so amazing how every song on this cd takes us on yet another heartfelt journey with David Cook!!

Wow, I really love this song. Other then your experience with AI, what other message did you entend this song to present? Personally, I can relate to it because once I made the decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ, everything feels different with the people I was always around. I could be in a room full of people, but still feel alone because they hold different thoughts, feelings and morals compared to myself. I need God to help me through the things I can't do with my own will.

"Turn me around and point me back to home
I’m getting lost more everyday
And I can’t tear myself away"

It is very easy to get caught up with everyone else and their lives, and slip in my Christian walk. It is a struggle to pull yourself away when everyone wants you to stay and not change.

"The life that I knew, it’s through
And I’m gonna need you more than ever"

I am a new person through Jesus Christ, and so my old life if through. And now I am going to need Jesus more then ever.

Thank you for this song David!!

I can imagine this as a very private prayer.

i love how i feel like i know what you were feeling throughout your journey of the past year. thank you for opening up to us!

When I finally heard this whole song I was pretty blown away by the brilliance of it. It managed to be a poignant reflection on the progression of David' year without being cheesy or too literal. Lyrically is is quite poetic and the melody gets completely stuck in my head for hours on end. I am finding that I am really loving all of the Raine collaborations on the album.

"The life that I knew, it’s through

I’m alone in this crowded room
It’s like life on the moon"

i love this song now more than ever, after reading the lyrics. but don't you feel so alone, david, because we''ll always behere for you no matter what. we'll never leave you and may i just say that YOU'RE NOT ALONE and YOU WILL NEVER BE ALONE in this crowded room !!! we're always on your side as you went on through your journey.

I can relate to this really well.
It's perfect.

Oh and David, if it means anything, we all have faith in you. Smiling

I really love this song...the lyrics, the melody, and especially love the tone of David's voice when he sings this one. It would be really neat to hear this song somehow tied into AI season 8...

I just happen to connect so much... I feel pretty much the same at this point in my life... Thanks

As I read the lyrics to this song I couldn't help but smile. Not because it is funny or because it is a light happy song, because it isn't. But it made me think of the absurdity of some of what he must be experiencing. I mean, how do you go from being a struggling musician who would give anything to be taken seriously to a huge star who people can't get enough of overnight. I cannot even imagine. And then to have every single thing you say and do be disected to the inth degree well, I just can't even imagine.

I would imagine there is that bit of grief he must experience over losing the simpleness of his past (pre-Idol) life. Sure there are wonderful things happeing in his new life, but still....things have to be much more complex.

I know he is learning to navigate his new life just fine. But this song represents the struggle, the pain and the absurdity of it all. I hate to think of him feeling alone or hurting, just the way I wouldn't want my own kids to feel those things. We want to protect those that we love from all pain. But, alas, we can't.

Very well written song and as far as I'm concerned, worthy of 5 stars.

I love this song a lot...it really is beautiful...but one thing that struck me hard was the part where he sings....the life that I knew, its through....correlates to an experience I had voting for him.

I distinctly had this impression when I was voting for him and it made me me pause and think hard about what I was doing...I felt this impression...........you do realize by voting for David that you will be ripping him out of the only world he has known into a world that is chaotic and unforgiving. Is this what you really want to do?...I stopped voting for few moments to contemplate the magnitute of this decision. But in my heart I knew that this was his time. I had conflict..I guess like a parent has conflict with a child...you want so badly to protect them and keep them from harm, but you know that they have to go out there and live their dreams...so I continued voting for him...but consciously knowing I was ripping him out of his world...

then he writes this song....ahhhhhh...oh the guilt! he feels like life on the moon couldnt be any weirder than what he is living right now......it makes me sad that he feels alone in a crowded room. And that their are hollow people everywhere around him....that is the part that I wish he didnt have to endure...hopefully he know how much we care for him.

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

I think this song does a great job of summing up the last year of David's life. I really love the melody (especially the piano part). One of my favorite songs on The Record!
