LYRICS

Day in and day out, watch him scream, watch him shout
Through the silence, through the silence
Give him ears, give him eyes
Give some point to the cries and the violence, oh the violence
Hear him scream your name

I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him
Get the best of him

This city feels low against the gleam and the glow
Of his diligence to their elegance
Just feel anger, feel pain, feel the sun and the rain
Just feel something, oh feel something
Hear him scream your name

I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him

Take all the stones, the bricks and bones
He didn't stand a chance they said
A little boy, the world in show, but ignorance is bliss

I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him
I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive
The one who never let the worst get the best of him
Get the best of him

Reviews for this Track

I just recently began to notice the power of this song. it was one of my least favorites on the album - (i thought it was too loud), until i saw/heard David perform it at the VA Beach concert - which was my first. i close my eyes when i hear it & i feel a rush. i now appriciat that "loudness", it's all from the heart..

I will say, this is my absolute favorite song. I absolutely love it, the power, sensitivity, and the lyrics coming together make an amazing song. I really think it describes David, and I really really love it.

She fell out; her broken legs won't let her walk away
From this town that couldn't give a single s*** either way
And her fears, they bled before she's convinced that they're real
What are you looking for?
Are you looking for something more?

When I first started listening to the CD this was my favorite from the beginning. I am so excited that is going to be released as a single. Thanks David!!!

Cookismyhomeboy,
Today is the first time I've ever read the "official" words, believe it or not. Every single time, of the thousands of times I've listened to this song, I thought he said, "Who never let the WORDS get the best of him." Today I see that the official lyric is WORST. Reading along and listening at the same time, I do hear that he does seem to be saying "worst." I never even had a question in my mind that he wasn't saying "words", but I do have to admit that it seems to be "worst."

These are supposed to be the official words. I'm just a little skeptical. Maybe more than one person typed them up. I've seen some inconsistencies, but maybe it's just the typist's style. This is the best we have. Maybe next time David will have the lyrics in the CD booklet where they belong, and then maybe they will be proofread a little better.

Another job well done Mr. Cook.

-From David's biggest fan ever!!!-

One of my favorites on an album of hits. Great job, David!

The reason why I say that is because, hey I am sensitive. Usually, guys aren't suppose to be sensitive. Instead, we're usually immature, even if we are adults and we don't care what people say about us. But some guys aren't that immature (like me), but we are sensitive. We do care what people say about us and I also care about other people's feelings. Its ironic I guess, if you ask me.

i love this song since the minute i listened to it

When I really listen to the lyrics in this song it makes me think about the story of Jesus. I know that sounds way off the wall. But, in his time, he was not hugely popular. People criticized and ridiculed him, but he never "let the worst get the best of him". The lyric "Just feel anger, feel pain Feel the sun and the rain" reminds me of the 40 days and nights Jesus fasted and wandered in the desert. BUT, this song also makes me think of Mr. David Cook, of course. Not that I'm comparing him to Jesus or anything....I'm not. It just illustrates what a great song it is. The song just sounds and feels different to me depending on my mood and state of mind. Great song!

this song is so amazing.... im obsessed with it.

I absolutely love this song, especially the last verse... The lyrics of this whole album are beautiful

I love this song. Its beautiful in alll ways. His voice and the guitar and the drums and bass intertwine to make such a beautiful melody it brings tears to my eyes and i love to sing along.

Finally, a song that describes David to a T!! LOL.

It's not only beautiful, it's also practically a poem with tunes added.

I LOVE THIS SONG! The story is drenched in desperation and meaning...the statements it makes about ignorance and indifference really hit home

I'd keep the "light on" for David Cook.

"There is something romantic about waking up in a different city every day." ~David!

This is pure magic between those two...I knew something good was going to emerge from the creative minds of Raine and David! XD

I can't help but imagine a city in ruin (in terms of violence, crime, etc.) and then a man trying desperately to bring it back to the way it was before, but he ends up resorting to violence himself and sometimes hurts others. Yet, being Mr. Sensitive, he doesn't want to accept the ruined way of life, so he keeps trying. The silence he screams through is because people have given up hope, and they condemn him for being the fool they think he is for continuously trying in vain (they throw the stones at bricks and bones). He doesn't listen, hence the 'ignorance is bliss', and personally, I think in this story, David is an onlooker, sympathizing with him and asking for anyone to hear Mr. Sensitive out, give his attempt a chance, if you will, instead of it just being in vain...

GAH I think I gave the song too much thought....I made a whole story out of it! O_O LOL David, if you read this, sorry if this interpretation is horrible compared to the original....
