I just now am finding the time to comment, though I watched this within minutes of it being posted. Anyhow, I absolutely loved this performance! You are amazing and I am so looking forward to seeing you guys when you go on tour! Hurry up and post those dates!

Frankly, my first impulse after watching the Session series was to write a note something like this:

But I have to say ... well, first, you do know I love ya — you know I do! — and love every. single. thing. you. do. Which is why you have to know that I say this in this most loving-fangirl-who-cares kind of way: You seem the tiniest bit tired in this set. I miss the fire and mischief in the eyes, the razor edge in the voice. Please don't get me wrong; I don't think any of us expect you to be a superhero (no pun intended) every single day. You are a human being (I theorize, anyway). And I really did love this performance! All I'm trying to say that we all really hope that amidst the chaos, you are taking care of yourself and that spectacular voice ... <<<

... And then I laughed at myself because I realized that 99 percent of the average population would thud at the Sessions and find them perfect anyway — and the fact that I would even notice such small, trivial differences between one performance and the next means I've logged too, too many hours watching and listening to Dave stuff. Obsess much? ;o)

Other than that ...

• I really did love the Sessions set and think Dave and the boys did a phenomenal job, as they always do!

• LOVING that Andy and Neal get lots more camera time in these videos! Word Heroes and FANGurls eating that up with a spoon!

• Oh, yeah, nice camera time for Kyle and Joey too. ;o)

• "Lie" is especially breathtaking. I think "Lie" and "Bar-Ba-Sol" are actually starting to surpass "Light On" as my favorites. Or ... oh wait, no — I think "Heroes" might be superceding them all. Or ... no, wait again ...

P.S. After hearing "Lie" all acoustic and soft and lovely like that ... did any other fans run off to relisten to Dave's "The Truth" from the OklaTravelNews spot? One of my all-time favorite DC performances. Something about hearing David's' voice in "Lie" accompanied by his own nylon string work made me long to run back to that old tape. Such a tender, lovely simplicity in each.

Thank you so much for posting this! It's so much easier to access now. The album is perfection from beginning to end and I just love the live performances too. I think a DVD of all the performances would be just awesome! They'd sell like hot-cakes!!! David Cook (and all that he is) will definately be on my gratitude list this Thanksgiving. You and the band did a fantastic job on all five songs. David when you sing LIE I can see the hurt on your face and it shows though the song. It makes for a beautiful ballad. I wish you did not have to feel the pain but it validates the song. It is my favorite performance. ~franniew

Hey david...I absolutely love all of these songs but I loved watching the performance of Lie. I love that song and I love you! lol that was chessy but I do.lol
I would love to see a performance of Permanent though.It really touched me and brought tears to my eyes.Thank you for shring something like this particular struggle.It reaches out to so many people.

Bar Ba Sol sounds so gooood loud!! The more drums the better for this song...Drums really get the audience going!! Along with the drum solo in the beginning, another drum solo towards the end (before the guitar solos) would sound AWESOME!!!! This songs gives Kyle the chance to show off his awesome drumming skillzzzz....You guys are a very talented group! Can't wait to hear you live in concert!

LIGHT ON was the #1 Video on VH1 Countdown!!!!!!!! We all need to vote like crazy just like we did for Idol. Go to www.VH1.com and vote for "Light On" to stay at the top....hopefully #1 again and again. Vote each week because I understand the voting process is a week or more behind for the actual weekly top 10 and 20 charts.

David's one of the few artists out there that can consistently sound even better live than in studio.

I LOVED the AOL sessions performances. David and the band sound really, really good, and they all seem quite comfortable too. Can't wait to see more of David and the band!!!

Interesting listening to and watching the videos on the AOL site. The live versions of the five songs were much grittier, better at times than the CD versions. With more vocals from Andy which added a greater depth overall. David's voice had a growl to it that is lacking often on the CD, Gone are the smoky stares into the camera seen so often on Idol. He's definitely in another place when he sings these days.

Truer to himself and the music, perhaps, and definitely more aware of the direction he wants to go in.

Well done, Mr Cook, sir!
