Summer
MJ was an inspiration!
MJ may have passed on but his music still lives on.
An inspiration to many aspiring contemporary musicians.
I think Michael would be proud knowing that musicians such as David who sang his own version of 'billie jean' and Kris who sang his own version of 'remember the time'.
I'm visiting India ( my home) and the music channel over here play MJ's music through the day. I mean David's right a person from a different culture may not know a single word of english; however, mention Michael Jackson and they try their best to sound westernized....it's really sweet to watch!
This one girl was born in 1994, she asked me whose Michael Jackson? another new generation already in front of me......i already feel ancient =)

DAVID AND HIS AWESOME TALENT
David,
Come on you need to get the band to practice and do Billie Jean on tour. This would be a tremendous tribute to Michael Jackson. Your outlook was right on and said so eliqently. With more performance in your live shows you could be on your way to Michael's success. Your fans believe you can, you just have to believe it because you are so very talented.
Love you,
Jackie Rock
Billie Jean Tribute YES!
I will be at Musikfest in Bethlehem PA for the Cook Concert on Aug. 3.... Hoping to hear Billie Jean as well. as Permanent --if you feel up to it, David.
BTW: I powerwalk with my greyhounds everyday and Declaration is a good powerwalking ballad, so thanks for the caloric burn!
See you on Aug. 3!
a Senior Cook fan
David Could Sing Billie Jean
I hope David practices Billie Jean so he can perform it at Ohio State Fair on 8 Aug. I think it would be a great tribute to Michael. Thanks.

Thoughts on MJ and DC
I absolutely LOVED David's version of Billy Jean on Idol. As usual, David's comments reflect his admirable personal integrity and his respect for MJ as a fellow performer. I am a huge fan of yours, David! I hope that you will continue to live a relatively clean life, despite the tremendous adulation you receive on a daily basis from your fans and the media. The happiest and most satisfied celebrities seem to be the ones who are able to keep their success in perspective. You are wise to keep your personal life as private as possible and to always remember to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground! I wish you continued success!!!!

R.I.P MJ....<3
Lol they misspelled his last name! Oh well…. xD

Yeah, MJ has inspired me to sing. He has inspired many others…

Happy Canada day by the way. And July 4th, for all you Americans. I hate people who dont spell check. My boss spelt chicken wrong, and he makes thirty dollars an hour more than I do. Billie Jean kicked ass, you rock David.

he won by his own merit
I believe with all my heart that he won AI7 because of himself and his talent, not probably because of bj. And his admirable character once again is evident in what he said about MJ, the character of a good person.
DC Remembers MJ
Oh wow MJ really changed the music world, but I wasn't really a MJ fan.

david reporting on the death of Michael Jackson
I believe Cook is correct in his statements sure Jackson was a little weird but the contribution he made to the world of music is phenomenal i mean the way he persuaded people to watch him wsas luring Jackson is amazxing and will forever be remembered! Long live Jackson and Long Live Cook
Consummate Gentleman - as usual!
Regardless of how he lived his life, *not my place to judge* MJ will forever be a pop icon.
David Roland Cooke, *ha* you always find the good things/attributes in people. Right on.
The moonwalk is still so cool! lol...seriously!

Thank you David Cook
MJ was such an incredible entertainer, it's still difficult to believe he's gone. Thank you for the beautiful performance of Billie Jean over a year ago, David, that simply touched my heart. Chris Cornell is very pleased that you chose his arrangement to honor MJ back then. xoxoxo Laura

DAVID COOK HELPED ME GET THROUGH GRUELING THERAPY WHEN I HAD A STROKE EARLY SPRING IN 2008
- Please PLEASE SOMEONE help me at either YAKIMA on 8/23 or OREGON STATE FAIR on SEPTEMBER 5 2009 .. it's my birthday and I'm going to see David Cook, driving from Seattle! If I could only MEET him I'd die ~happy and ecstatic~ !!
!!!!!!
i cant watch it because im in Canada!
That freaking SUCKS hardcore!
hello
i think it was ok. i saw cook on my tv though, reg an hour show about mj which was broadcasted in TCS. he looked tired. MJ is really cool and a great singer. i think the first i ever saw when i was young was "i m bad", thriller, billy jean, and many more. i m a huge fan. but the song cookie sang on MJ's song, was well put through. i seriously dont care what others say bad about it, i liked it!

MJ and DC
What a better way to describe MJ’s impact on the world of music. He's gone but his music will live on. As for DC’s version of Billy Jean…I remember watching him perform it during his AI stint. During the first few lines, I thought that the song was familiar to me but not quite because there was something odd to the way it’s being sung, I just can’t figure out what was it. Then, a few more lines and the uncertainty became “oh it sure is Billy Jean and he’s singing it in a completely different way but my oh my, it sure is a striking way”.
Love you David,
Ems
I love you david!!!
I love how he's like uhh i guess. so like he isn't all stuck up in his interviews like a lot of other artists. And like seeing him in both his American Idol Concert and "meeting" him on his declaration tour he seems really laid back and i like those kinds of artists that don't take themselves too seriously
Good Interview, David COOK
I agree with what David said, that Michael made music bigger. Michael actually saw colors in his music. Love and will miss MJ. I cry every once in a while when I hear MJ sing and I think about how young he died, and how much he wanted to perform for the fans that he DEARLY LOVED. MJ truly loved his fans. MJ is a good example for David to follow.

How Can You Miss Spell...
somthing so simple!!!!!! David this just shows the massive heart you have once again. It was thanks to David's performance of Billie Jean and AAF cover of Smooth Criminal along with AI this year which introduced me to more MJ tracks. As i am 15 and knew Thriller along with a few others which i would here on the radio but miss the artist, but i now have quite a few on my Ipod. There was that one track he sung the chorus on which i never knew the name of but thought from the first time i heard it, i know that voice. It is things like that which will stick in my mind when it come to MJ. David once again well said, you are amazing! Love Kimmi

David Cook another great interview!
David is a real master of words! He always manages to say the right thing and be so respectful and intelligent. I was happy to see that at a concert on this current tour he had a moment of silence for Michael Jackson, at another concert on this tour he sang Billie Jean, and then he followed it all up with this interview giving credit where credit is due.
Would David have won Season 7 without his performance of MJ's song? Absolutely, he would have won. He sparked my interest all the back to Hollywood Week when he sang "Everything I Do". Every week he improved and took more chances. By the time he sang Billie Jean, he already had 8 other performances that we saw on TV and by now us fans were hooked. Billie Jean secured the already hooked fans and raked in many many more! Make sure you go to a Cook Concert and you'll see why he won!!
OH NO THEY DIDNT!!!!!!!!!!
They shhould lock those people up in jail 4 spelling his name wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyways, he really said it well. i love how david chooses his words carefully. he is so amazing, and thats why we all love him so much(:

Both are great artists
I could say that the song Billie Jean may have somehow influenced David's success today because of his great performance in Bille Jean....and I really really love his rock version of that song. But they are both undeniably great! Keep on making new songs, David.
David Rocks2.
David also rocks like michael!! but i love you more david. (laughing)

Another Perfectly Answered Inteview
Yes, David did a pretty good job yet again in this interview...
Again, he is totally right that Michael Jackson had a HUGE impact in the history of the music industry.
Sigh, so sad that we had to lose one of the greatest artists of all time so soon. (He was about to make a come back as well...
)
LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP!
Your music will always be with us.
BTW, how could they mispelled David Cook's name? My 4-yr old cousin can even spell it right, why can't they?! Geez! They should've been sure how it was spelled before broadcasting it!

It's my Declaration, to anyone who's listening
You're my inspiration
What a Gentleman
I too know that even without the performance of "Billie Jean" David would have won America Idol. You could tell from the first performance that he sang from his sole, especially when he sang "The First Time I ever Saw Your Face" and his mom was there.
you are a class act David Cook
I knew you'd say something nice about Michael Jackson. Looks like you are the only one out here that focuses on the positive rather than the negative. Thank you for being a wonderful person David.
You truly are a professional gentleman. You are a rare type these days. Most people just want to rip up the
past...but someone like you comes along and shows major respect. You are an amazing person.
For that...it speaks volumes about your character. You can be proud of yourself David. You are quite the
unique person, and you can hold your head up high and know you are worth all the love that comes your way from all your fans and friends and family. You rock!!!
Marian
so nice :)
you always know just what to say, so professional!
David always knows what to say and how to say it
David always gives the best interviews...I not only love listening to what he has to say through his music but I also enjoy listening to what he has to say.....he's always honest--but not to the point of rudeness--and he expresses himself perfectly and in ways that other artists seem to be dreadfully incapable of doing....you watch other celebrity interviews and sometimes you just wanna cringe and turn offf the TV cuz you're embarrassed for them...with david I go to the computer so I can watch it again and again and again....
LOL they spelled his name with and e hahaha...lmao

DC is the greatest to happen for MJ
Michael Jackson sure is the starter for something unique and unforgettable period in history.
There is no DOUBT about that!!
He followed his own path, in good and bad, and at the same time he made possible for the next generations to have chances to "impact" in the way they could not have if there wasn't him.
I do not know what MJ thought about all the artists that came after his footsteps, but in DC's case,
he should have felt the proudest ever because of the great work he does inspired by him!
dc remembers mj
totally well said, couldn't have said it better myself, david is extremely right when it comes to pop music mj was the greatest he sure did made his mark well known to keep pop music alive today

Always So Generous
David,
Just as you were always so generous to your fellow American Idol contestants with comments of praise during season 7, you demonstrate generosity once again with your remarks regarding Michael Jackson as well.
You mentioned the the worldwide awareness of Michael Jackson was "huge". I would say that another thing that is "huge" is your heart. It makes my heart happy to be your fan.
'nuff said
David, you're right on the money. Michael Jackson was ridiculously huge in the world of music- everything he touched became his signature. He will be sorely missed after this tragic event.
See you July 30!!!!!!
