The Declaration Tour – 2009
Last Season’s American Idol Winner, Kicks off his first Headline tour “The Declaration Tour – 2009” in Tallahassee, FL on February 13th.
LOS ANGELES (Monday, January 26, 2009) – Reigning American Idol winner, David Cook, has announced plans for his first ever solo tour to promote his debut self-titled album, released in November 2008. This will be first time that Cook has been on the road since headlining the American Idol season 7 tour. Cook exclusively unveiled his tour dates on AOL Music’s PopEater.com on Friday, January 23rd.
Cook entered the Billboard charts at #3 with David Cook (19 Recordings / RCA Records). The Rob Cavallo produced album also debuted as the #1 album on the digital album chart and is the best debut from an American Idol winner since 2006. The first single, “Light On,” dominated the AOL Top 40 radio chart with 8 (non consecutive) weeks at #1 and is currently Top 10 at Hot AC radio and still growing. In late September “Light On” premiered on AOL Music’s pop culture news site, PopEater.com, receiving over 1 million plays in less than week.
Rolling Stone Magazine deemed Cook “the most imaginative American Idol talent to date.”
“I’m more than excited to hop on the road and support this record. This tour represents both a new beginning and a return to form for me,” said Cook. “It’s our first full tour, and we’re all ready to pour whatever blood, sweat, and tears that we can muster into making this show, and every show from here on out, an experience. Part of that experience is bringing back this college tour idea. There’s something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows. So many amazing acts used to do it, so it’s nice to be able to bring that ideal back, in some small way. And besides, touring on a bus beats what we used to do, which was cram five guys into a 7 passenger van for one show, 13 hours away... ”
Cook’s first single, “The Time of My Life” recently went platinum, with over one million tracks sold. “The Time of My Life” is not only the biggest single debut but the highest selling coronation single in the show’s history. Cook is the 34th "American Idol" contestant to appear on a Billboard chart.
Cook kicked off 2009 by performing for troops during a USO tour. He visited seven different bases, singing songs off his self-titled album.
On February 12, Walt Disney World Resort will host the world premiere of their new blockbuster attraction, “The American Idol Experience” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. David Cook will perform live from the attraction on GOOD MORNING AMERICA (ABC) that morning, and will headline a special guest performance during the night’s event.
“The Declaration Tour – 2009” will kick off February 13, 2009 in Tallahassee, FL and will continue nationwide hitting various college campus and major venues.

I'm soo... sad that you aren't coming to Phoenix, Arizona. I was so excited to find out that you were coming on tour. You should consider coming out here. You know you'd want to and you'd love it out here. And it would so make my day. =) Hope you change your mind and come out here. Hope your having a blast on tour.

Hey,
I was at the concert last night in Buies Creek, and I just wanted to tell you that I loved it. You did such a great mix from the album and covers, and I loved Souvenir. When you got choked up while singing Permanent, I got a little choked up too. I want you to know that I have prayed for Adam, and every time I listen to Permanent, it reminds me to do so again.
I am a high school teacher, and I cracked up when you started singing "Hot for Teacher." That song is so wrong in so many ways, but your performance of it was AWESOME!!
Thanks for doing the college tour because it was nice not to be all the way across an arena from you the way it is in large venues. I have loved a lot of the Idol tours, but yours was the most authentically you I think.
Thanks,
Beth Hawks
PS - I also enjoyed Ryan Star. I usually just put up with the opening act for three songs or so and then am thinking, "Okay, your name's not on the ticket. Bring out the real one." I didn't feel that way last night; I thought he complimented your style really well.
DAVID COOK ROCKS THE BORGATA HOTEL & CASINO! ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY!!!!!
March 20th, 2009 ~ Just Unbelievable is what you are!!! The Dare Man riding his Dark horse is galloping his way on Dream Street as SOLO HEADLINER for his Self-Titled "Platinum" album...leading his "Declaration Tour" through the doors of the Borgata straight .through to "THE MUSIC BOX" , where he rocked the house down!!!! Singing his heart and soul out, professing his love and gratitude to All his fans, he had all 900 of us, dancing in the isles, screaming "We Love You David". singing his songs on the "top of our lungs" leaving us in a state of euphoria!! His intense, passionate voice penetrates to the souls of each and every listener...... feeling his warmth, his truths!! Over and again he yelled, "PUT THOSE LIGHTS UP, I WANNA SEE MY PEOPLE... MY FANS WHO PUT ME HERE...SO IM LIVING MY DREAM...DOING WHAT I LOVE"!!! The love and sincerity continuously flowed all around the room with David catching it and sending right back to us all!! Yes for over one hour we all shared with David his "Life On The Moon", leaving me on an adrenalin high from which, I hope I never land!! I wonder if he really knows his greatness, the happiness he brings through his music, the haunting love we carry in our hearts each and every day for him??!! This unbelievable experience with David Cook is yet another memory to cherish and remind me.....my life... as I knew it... has forever changed!! So if and when I land, I will continue to thank God for this blessing....named David Cook!!... The Last American Idol for......NyCArole..

Visit West Coast!
Hey, can't wait till you tour the west coast cuz there's where I live and Id love to come to one of your performances!
Went to Mansfield U (PA) concert last night
I went to the Mansfield U concert last night. It was an amazing high-energy show and we were in the 7th row. Nice that the auditorium only held about 1000 people as we felt we were up close and personal. On the negative side, the main microphone was not turned up enough to overcome the other instruments and it was hard to hear the actual singing. I read on one of the other reviews that David sang for an hour and a half. He sang for 45 minutes at Mansfield, which left us certainly longing for more music from him. Overall it was a fabulous concert, just too short and too hard to hear him singing.

Bloomsburg show
Saw the Bloomsburg show last night! Was amazing! Keep up the great work...you're an awesome talent, and I know I'll never get to see you play a concert in a 600 seat auditorium again probably! Will look forward to the show at Musikfest in the summer!

AWESOME NIAGARA FALLS, NY SHOW
David, I just saw you live for the first time last night. I got a ticket upgrade to Row 6, center. May I say you are the best live performer I have ever seen! You and the band were "spot on"! Just like listening to the CD!! I love you! My only wish was for it to have lasted longer! The only really sad thing for me was not getting to meet you. I was very upset when I found out that some who got meet & greet passes did not deserve them. One girl sat by me and claimed to be your biggest fan, yet she never sang, danced or screamed for you once! I also heard that another girl who got to meet you had never even heard of you til that night! I know this was out of your control, but I wanted you to know that I live and breathe "David Cook" and I hope someday to get to meet you in person. You ARE the whole package...amazingly talented, sweet, funny, smart and (OBVIOUSLY) very sexy! I'll follow your career wherever it takes you!!!
Much love and success,
Lisa B.
Disappointing Actions by Some Venues
I have no problem with David playing small college venues - the opportunity to potentially see him in such a small venue is great....what I'm having a problem with is how the venue in my area is handling it. Tickets were to be on sale to university students only for over a month before scheduled release to the public via Ticketmaster. It didn't take a genius to figure out tickets would never make it to Ticketmaster. So we did some leg work, asked around and were able to find students to get our tickets for us. Now the venue is saying if you don't have a student ID the night of the show, you will not be let in. They are actually going to turn David's fans away at the door!!!! Finding a way to get these tickets took more time and effort than any ticket I ever bought on line at Ticketmaster, but it was worth it to see David! I've never heard of a venue controlling what happens to tickets after they are sold. The abundance of tickets being scalped on ebay is evidence of that. I believe David would be upset knowing his fans were being treated like this.
Tour Valparaiso
Hi David
My girlfriend and I just went to see your tour at Valparaiso In. It was pretty cool. Yes is was sold out. There were so many people there. You truely rocked the crowd. How does it feel to see so many people out there? All different ages to. Anyway it was a great show. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Have a great day

Coming to Memphis!!!
I'm so happy to see the Minglewood Hall date. Now if I can just get tickets.
Disappointed at Ameristar KC
David,
I went to the Ameristar KC and stood in line for tickets on Feb. 9 and when they finally started selling them only two people got tickets and they were sold out. Everyone was so disappointed. I still haven't told my 4 year old son Joshua Aaron that I couldn't get tickets. I don't want to break his heart. He loves you so much and says that you are his best friend. I wanted to take him to see you for his birthday which is on March 30. Is there anyway you could do 2 shows in KC in addition to Red White & Boom?
Love,
Raquel & Joshua Aaron in Blue Springs
Beau Rivage
Awesome concert in Biloxi on Valentines - I was so proud and you were excellent - never forget your fans do LOVE YOU MAN - hope to see you at least once more this year...
No Texas????
What's up with not touring in Texas? Very disappointed!
Western US
There will be some stops somewhere west of Kansas City...right? That's a big chunk of the US that's getting nervous.
the tourrr*
hey david!
you should come in the boston area!
A Disappointed Fan
I was sad to find out that my city was not one of the spots on the declaration tour, because i have seen the american idol tour and i am wanting more. I was hoping you could make one more stop in Illinois either to Chicago or University of Illinois at Champagian- urbana. I know it is hard to do this but i know i will not be the only one to be happy about it. Hope to see you again, on this tour or a future one.
Thank you ,
Rebecca
Kansas City concert
PLEASSSSSE schedule another concert for Kansas Ciy. My loving husband got up this morning to get in line for tickets at Ameristar casino. Tickets sold out in six minutes. Only the first person in line got tickets and then they announced tickets were sold out! Now you can buy tickets through other websites for $200.00 to $800.00 each. I'm not saying I wouldn't pay that kind of money but it's not going to the person that deserves it! David deserves the money if I'm going to pay those prices. I just think something is wrong when only one person made it through the line at the venue. I would love to see another concert scheduled so people that care about him can go. Do it for the fans pleassssse!
Cindy in Kansas City
Anyone going to the concert at Burlington County College (BCC) on March 27?
If you are going to the concert at Burlington County College (BCC) on March 27 can you please PM me? I need HELP getting tickets!!
I have so much admiration for David and just LOVE him and his music!! I'm not sure if I can pull off seeing him this time around but will try my darndest!

When the wires cross in my brain
You’ll start my heart again
Argosy Casino
Just to let everyone know that the concert at the Argosy Casino in Kansas City on April 25 sold out. The tickets went on sale at 10:00 am and when I checked at 2:00 pm they were all gone. I couldn't have gone on that date - so Hope David plans on another concert here in the near future. Congrats on the Platinum record - although all of us true fans and lovers of your music are not all that surprised! Wait 'til the Grammys next year!
AN OCEAN AWAY
Guys, you should be happy that he's at least touring somewhere if your vicinity. Unless I hop on a plane/boat/raft fashioned from twigs an' that I'm pretty much not going. So as long as America continues to bogart the Cook you really don't have any cause to complain!! We didn't even get to vote for him here in the UK!
Chin up guys, he'll be around for years to come I'm sure
Buies Creek Campbell University
The Fayetteville Observer (NC) ran an article today about the concert at Campbell University.
Chris O'Connor, activities director for Campbell indicated that he expects tickets to go on sale for students next week at $5 each and to the general public the following week at $15.00. Student ID required to purchase tickets.
Turner Auditorium seats 1000

Concert...
PLEASE come out West!!!!! Be safe and enjoy the ride!
I think everyone is on the same page now
I see alot of posts that are scrutinizing the people who are disappointed in not getting to see David. I haven't seen too many people at least on this thread write anything negative in the last few days. I think it was confirmed with the blog yesterday that everyone will get a chance and to just be patient. I think it is opk for people to be disappointed as long as it isn't insulting David. I think everyone just wants him to come to a place near them. I don't think anyone is being mean or hateful about it....except the people reselling the tickets at gouge level prices....sorry, just had to throw that in..
We are all on this thread to support a musician not everyone needs lectured about how they do it. Everyone has their own thoughts and ways of support. It may not be the same as others, as long as it is showin the love it's all good.
David Holding His Own
Hi everyone.

I just want to say that David wanted to do the college tour and he let everyone know why.
He invited his fans as I recall at the Jimmy Kimmel Pontiac Garage.
He let us know the tour dates.
I do not think his intention is to exclude but to include.
He wants to do things right. And he wants to hold his own.
This is a big step in his future.
Why not create new fans? Why not make it economically feasible for the students?
Why not have an intimate small setting.
Hey he did for us many times recently.
Plus he gets experience of what it will be like when he and the band get to the "big top"
I would be disappointed too if the tickets weren't available for me or were sold out.
I was fortunate enough to be able to go on my birthday though. So I am very happy.
I know I would be upset if I didn't get to go but I know I had already thought about the
possibility and realized I would then see him later at a different tour.
I might even be angry somewhat at David. But I know I would reason it out, like I did here.
This is all fresh and brand new for David.
He is moving fast and trying to keep up and make it go right.
He gave us so much. He loves us guys.
Hey let's not forget the song Declaration. The name of the tour.
Anyway love to you David and the band.
Kick a*s and take names. Rock and roll. And bring the house down.
Love to all you guys here at DCO too.
"Oh, but it's okay to breathe

Stickin' Together
I agree. If people refuse to pay the scalper's prices then they'll have no choice but to be reasonable about the prices or "eat it". I wouldn't mind paying a "normal" price to see David, but I'd prefer the money go towards financing a bigger, longer, more extensive tour, not some scalpers greedy pocket!
Oh, and OU_Stacey (spelled it right this time, lol) I will take TONS of pics to share!!!! I really hope you get those tickets!!!! Good luck!!
I love the VBLOG
I loved David's Vblog. . I think it is awesome about him to think of all the fans and addressed us. Love him!!
Oh...my post that is titled "Everyone please read" ..someone said a moderator removed it. I can still see it...don't know if everyone else can. Give it a read. I think it is important to see what people will do. And she is no longer hawking her tickets anywhere since she was messing with ebay rules and stuff. Anyway. Hope everyone enjoys David's VBLOG. He is ssssssooooo hot. Can't wait to see him on tour somewhere somehow.
Wilmington NC info
I was able to get tickets for the April 2 concert scheduled for Wilmington NC this morning.
It sounded like there are still plenty available.
Here's the web site. I would call instead of faxing.
http://www.ncazaleafestival.org/Events/Concerts/tabid/61/Default.aspx
This is at UNC-Wilmington and is a festival event, so it's open to the public.
Lots of hotels and resturants near the university.
Beautiful NC beaches if you decide to stay longer.
I hope this helps.

Congratulations!
Congratulations David Cook for your tour selling so well. That must be so exciting for you. I hope your music will reach a lot of new fans as a result. I will not be able to make it to any of the Spring shows but I am looking forward to the future when you will be able to tour on the West Coast. Hope you have a great time with the guys on the bus.

vlog
David's vlog addresses the tour and he tells us after this tour there will be others and that he hopes to give everyone a chance to go. I think he heard the loud cries from the West Coast, and others so patience is the word I think. PS I am able to go to this tour because I am traveling but I live out West. I have seen others on this site offering tickets at the original value and I hope that the scalpers end up lowering their ticket prices because folks are refusing to be gouged.

David just put up a vlog addressing tour availability issues:

OU_Stacey, the scalper posts have been deleted by a moderator so she can no longer try to hawk tickets on David's own site.

Irrational Fan #Δ
Glad I could help.
Glad I was able to help ya out OSU JENN. Take lots of pics and send them to me...lol. Did everyone read my last post. That one would help no one but herself...Yes, I know I am being b****y about it, but scroll down and read the post. I have actually found someone who bought tickets for the Shawnee show and now can't go. He is hopefully going to sell them to me. I offered him$100 for the 2 tickets. I figure I will pay what I normally would in a big venue....and they are 3rd row. So, I hope this goes through. Remember, being a true fan is helping other fans. We all love David...thats our common ground.
Love Ya!!!
Just For Now
This tour is meant for a selective audience. Period.
It's just for now. These aren't the only shows he's going to be doing. I heard a radio interview this morning from Michigan. The DJ asked him if he would be coming there, and he said he would. I do understand what you are saying. He's coming to my state too, and the show here isn't open to the public either. I have faith he'll come back and do a show that the public can go to.

Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!!!!
I cannot give a big enough THANK YOU to OU_Stacy for mentioning that there were still tickets available for the show in Elkin, WV. I just moved back to Columbus Ohio after being in FL since I was a kid and I had NO CLUE that it (Elkins) was only a couple of hours away. So I bought tickets for that show just now!! Hope the hubby doesn't mind the drive, lol!!!! Sorry you can't go, but kudos for putting your kids first!!
DECLARATION TOUR FOR A SELECTIVE AUDIENCE
I'm a mom with three kids...David is playing literally 20 minutes from my home! But that doesn't mean JACK because I'm not a college student. My husband joked that I should sign up for a class so I can get a ticket. Ha ha : (
You all can be mad at me for saying this (the old "David can do no wrong, it's his tour", BLAH BLAH BLAH) but you CAN NOT deny the truth when it's staring you right in the face: This tour is meant for a selective audience. Period.
I'll Wait For You
I know that there will be more dates added. I can't wait until there's one that I am able to go to. In fact, not being able to go right now, makes me want to go even MORE! hahaha ......Great strategy!! It's brilliant really.

I am a huge Fan and am trying to get shawnee stickets for my daughter's b day. Don't sell them on ebay. Sell them to me. I live right in Athens and can come get them.
This person paid 10 bucks for her ticket. She is trying to make a 300% profit. That is not even scalping that is actually goudging, which is illegal.
Now, I am not just being bitter here. I just want everyone to see that this person is not a true friend of David's. They are out to help other fans. They are out to Exploit David and the music just to make themselves a profit. This is no longer about seeing a concert. I can get over that, but its about how people treat other people. It's horrible.

Welcome to HK , David.

yet so far away! Come to Minnesota, it's not so bad in April anyway.

Clarification
To Deedledoll
I meant that the fact that we are on this site, taking time out of our day to read and comment, tells me that David owns at least a little piece of each of our hearts. I did not intend for it to sound like a negative thing, and I apologize if it came off sounding that way.
