Major Award for "The Time of My Life"

David Cook's "The Time of My Life" single won 'Song of the Year' at the 2009 Nashville Music Awards held October 7th, 2009. The song won the American Idol Songwriter Contest held online on Americanidol.com from thousands of entrants. Billboard has declared it "...one of the longest-running chart-toppers by a solo male artist in AC history." The hit single written by Regie Hamm has joined the ranks of select Nashville-penned songs that have achieved remarkable success at the #1 spot, including Elvis' "Heartbreak Hotel" in 1956. The song hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot AC chart 15 times, passing the 14 week mark that Whitney Houston hit with Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" in 1993.

David so deserves this. He really made that song what it is. Everyone calls it the "rainbow song" and there were many people who weren't crazy about it but I have to tell you that I really love that song. It has really grown on me.
How come RCA did not put this song forward for any Grammy nominations? Did it not qualify?

It could not have happened to a better guy! Congratulations on this award as it is only the beginning for you! Your "Time of My Life" was the first song that the wedding party danced to at my brother's wedding this fall. Me and my whole family were in the wedding party and my kids and I knew every word to the song as we danced away! It was the perfect song for the perfect day!
You had been feeling sick so I hope you are back at 100% and feeling fantastic! Your constant effort of sharing your music and messages is so appreciated! I have been to 4 of your concerts and loved each one for different reasons as you made each concert unique! One thing though remained the same throughout, your heart and soul. Your first CD is a contant in my SUV and have bought it many times over for gifts to family and friends. Okay, now that the song is getting all of this attention, will David start performing it again? I only loved the song because of him. I will say that Ryan Starr did it justice though (to my surprise), but no one can sing it like David. I wouldn't be disappointed to hear him perform it again!

Well. of course, lyrically and musically, the song was great. But let's face it, it won the award simply because it was DAVID COOK who sang it. No offense meant to Reggie!
