Nice to see another Buckley lover! I got into him a few years ago and his music is truly fascinating. He was a talent that went way too soon. Most of the artists in your list I'm unfamiliar with but I'm excited to listen to them and hopefully have more favorite artists. I got into Alter Bridge around late 2007 and therein became a HUGE fan of Myles Kennedy and found out about MF4 and their music is so amazing. I hope you've listened to his work in Alter Bridge. I see why you are so moved by his music and his persona. I want to hear more about him and from him. I can tell you that yes, life can take away your idealism. But you can have an epiphany; be moved by something so much that all the feelings of wanting to make the world better come rushing back. The good part is you are better equipped to act on those ideals. You don't have to do big things to do good. Just being aware of your surroundings and making a conscious choice to go beyond the ordinary every day. Imagine if everyone was a little kinder to all the living things they come in contact with every day - including themselves. I try to imagine it every day.

At first, when I saw the Brandy comments I thought The Used was a mistake, but I sure hope not! I've been a fan of theirs ever since "Buried Myself Alive". The video for BMA is awesome, too! I'd love to see you cover it, David...that would be killer.
I thought the same thing as some of the others - that a couple of the comments do not seem to match up with the song selections - somebody may want to check this out!
"Question Everything" has been one of my all time favorites ever since I saw 8Stops7 at the Orange Blossom Festival in Riverside, CA about 7 or 8 years ago. They were going to play the House of Blues next and Evan announced that they had a great up and coming band opening for them and that we should come on out and check them out. I had planned to do just that, but life got in the way and I ended up not going. I know it's probably not likely, but could that band have been Axium?
Anyway, I just had to dig out my CD to hear that song again right now! Also happy to see you like Sevendust...and of course, Sarah McLaughlin and Collective Soul! Very good interview with Raine Maida. Such an idealist...he reminds me so much of Bono.
Please keep feeding us these crumbs, David. We want to know everything about what you like and what makes you who you are!
David, I was moved by some of your choices and left confused by others. The mix in its entirety seems to me to be as complex and contradiction-laden as the chooser. I followed a thread of unabashed feeling and responsibility without regard to commercial interests. My take, anyway.
It does look to me like some of the videos don't match your comments, specifically #5, #6. I contacted Joost but I also recommend checking it out for yourself, just to make sure.
Thank you for including that Raine Maida interview here. I really knew little about him before you brought him to my attention. This interview gave me a feel for this man's generous heart and his laid-back wisdom. Now I see what you so admire in him. Very cool music too.
I find Sarah's 'Angel' to be a transcendent song - takes the listener through the words and melody and beyond.

In light of this serious list, I am truly enjoying the VHI Play List clips posted on You Tube by the Brazilian Word Nerds. David is hilarious yet again -- talking with his Mom about Miami Vice, endorsing Don Johnson's video, Flight of the Concords roller skating, and the tread mill choreography by OK Go's, which is actually quite cool.
Thank you to David and VH1 for the fun, and for our Brazilian friends for bring the clips to our attention.

"Question Everything" has been one of my all time favorites ever since I saw 8Stops7 at the Orange Blossom Festival in Riverside, CA about 7 or 8 years ago. They were going to play the House of Blues next and Evan announced that they had a great up and coming band opening for them and that we should come on out and check them out. I had planned to do just that, but life got in the way and I ended up not going. I know it's probably not likely, but could that band have been Axium?
Anyway, I just had to dig out my CD to hear that song again right now! Also happy to see you like Sevendust...and of course, Sarah McLaughlin and Collective Soul! Very good interview with Raine Maida. Such an idealist...he reminds me so much of Bono.
Please keep feeding us these crumbs, David. We want to know everything about what you like and what makes you who you are!

David, I was moved by some of your choices and left confused by others. The mix in its entirety seems to me to be as complex and contradiction-laden as the chooser. I followed a thread of unabashed feeling and responsibility without regard to commercial interests. My take, anyway.
It does look to me like some of the videos don't match your comments, specifically #5, #6. I contacted Joost but I also recommend checking it out for yourself, just to make sure.
Thank you for including that Raine Maida interview here. I really knew little about him before you brought him to my attention. This interview gave me a feel for this man's generous heart and his laid-back wisdom. Now I see what you so admire in him. Very cool music too.
I find Sarah's 'Angel' to be a transcendent song - takes the listener through the words and melody and beyond.
