For your thoughtful posts, which I really enjoyed reading.
As with jennyjenny, I was nothing but a casual watcher of the TV show before the David Cook thing, so was shocked to get so drawn into to what is in effect a whole miniature world. One started by trying to understand what would happen with his work and his story, and ended up delving into: why did this other singer or song succeed or fail? Why is what's on the radio *on the radio*?
Though still abashed to have become such a junkie on the topic, I read a book called "Moneyball" this summer, which is partly about people who obsess over baseball stats, and realized I/we ain't alone.
Once you become involved in the question, why this guy? and not that one? There's a whole intellectual obsession that can nerdily develop.
In end, it's fascinating to see if what you think you know leads to any insights about how songs will fare. In the end, I'll never be objective about Cook's music, anyway. Cause I just love it.
Guys, thanks so much
