Being a fan means I not only enjoy how David's music moves through the atmosphere, but how it changes the people listening. Poetry is still, honestly, mostly, a little too inside baseball for most humans to openly like, nevermind recite. Music, on the other hand, is totally cool. Well-written music is more rare yet. The lyric is the thing. Sure, the melody, all the components of what we call music, inside elegantly crafted arrangements, are essential. But the lyric is the story on the noisy newspaper page that our eye jumps to. Knowing the words to a good song is prized in our era. A beautifully crafted song that earns space in our recitations is especially so.
