Declaration Tour Live Journal Compilation Post

Cuz I know I'd be more inclined to upload some of my concert shots if we could upload more than one at a time and they didn't all have to be resized to under 2 mg.

There are some GORGEOUS shots from concerts that have been taken by the fans. The site could use better organization of the galleries so people could REALLY enjoy them.

I saw your comments and thank you for taking the time to give me your thoughts. It's nice knowing what fans like to see in pictures.

I think I"m actually about half and half when it comes to Andy's side or Neal's side. At GA shows, since I am very seldom in the VERY front of the line, I tend to go to wherever I will have the fewest heads and/or arms blocking my view. That SEEMS to be mostly Andy's side for me, although at Carrboro and Tulsa University, I ended up on Neal's side. Of course, at the reserved shows, you take what you can get from good old Ticketbastard

Why I'm a Fan

And I can't believe I'm quoting PAULA of all people here (YEESH!), David is the WHOLE package. Talent, drive, dedication in spades. Sorta easy on the eyes (snorfle). But more than that, EVERYONE who actually knows him talks about what a GREAT guy he is. And THAT'S where he got me.

Cuz here's the thing...I don't crush on musicians. Admire their talent, yes. But I grew up around musicians, so being exposed to massive raw talent is nothing new. I can usually stand back and appreciate the music as it either floats, crashes or flows through me.

In fact, I DON'T watch American Idol. I've NEVER watched American Idol. You couldn't PAY me enough to watch American Idol. Even this year with everyone saying "Hey, you gotta watch AI, we have a local guy who made the top 24." NO WAY", I said. "I don't watch American Idol. I don't LIKE American Idol. I'm NOT watching American Idol." Then, my sister got in on the act. "Hey, that local guy, David what'shisface, is really good. You should watch." (See response above. This got used a LOT then came back to bite me in the ass)

Finally, I think it was Top 4 week (yeah, I was a hold-out), I was sitting in my sister's car, with her and her 2 kids, when she popped in her CD with songs from American Idol. This song started playing, and this VOICE came out of the speakers. I frowned and thought, "What the HELL is this song? I SWEAR it sounds REALLY familiar." Then, "Holy HELL!!! That's freakin' Billie Jean! I HATE Billie Jean. But I LOVE THIS!!" Calmly, I turned to my lil sis and said, "So, did the judges like this version?" She looked at me like I had lost my freakin' mind. "Uh...YEAH!!! They LOVED it." "Huh," I said. "That's VERY interesting."

Yeah, interesting enough that I went home, pulled up iTunes and 2 hours and waaaaaay to much money later, was totally immersed in the surprising originality that was David Cook on American Idol. "Who screwed up and FINALLY kept the most talented and original person on this cockamaimmy show."

Followed the show a bit more closely after that. Cheered like crazy during the ZZTop performance (that brought back SUCH memories for me). Then jumped around like a crazy person after Ryan said that name (the cats ran and hid for like the next 20 minutes).

The REAL craziness started for me with the Leno interview. Since I had obstinately REFUSED to watch any Idol before Top 3 week, I'd missed all the little BHS stuff, so missed out on getting glimpses of David's personality. Leno, however, I seemed to get it in spades. THEN, I knew I was in trouble. Whoa! This guy is not just musically talented. He's FUNNY, SMART and ARTICULATE. Those three things, ladies and gentlemen, are my kryptonite. WHO could resist a combination like that? Later, when I learned how close he was to his family, the hole I was floundering in just got deeper.

Smart, funny, articulate, talented, not afraid to show emotions, and loves his family? I guess THAT'S why I'm a fan. Why isn't everyone ELSE?
