It might seem like a common response at this point but he had me at Hello! I never liked Lionel Richie's version of Hello but when he performed it my mouth literally fell open. As the weeks went by I was impressed again by his ingenuity and consistency as a performer on Billie Jean, Little Sparrow and Always Be My Baby. Then when he sang Music of the Night I was so amazed by the range of his voice and by how easily he handled a more theatrical performance. I think that was when I realized he could win the whole thing. I anxiously anticipated Neil Diamond night but I had a WTF!Cook moment (TM someone brilliant from TWOP) when they announced he was singing songs I had never heard of. I think he officially became my TV boyfriend when he sang All I Really Need is You. What a beautiful, heartfelt performance.

I think I reached the pinnacle of crazy on Top 2 Performance Night. I was so nervous for him and wanted so badly for him to win. I am not lying when I say I had a fit of nervous trembling so bad my teeth were chattering. It lasted well past the second performance and into the third. And then came the bus throwing . . . I thought I was going to throw up. Followed by two hours of dialing on two phones. DH really thought I was nuts.

Seeing David win AI was a moment I will never forget. It's so rare that the person I am rooting for wins on a reality show! And I was so impressed by the way he handled the win -- he may be the first winner who was able to give a standout performance of the coronation song even in the midst of his own overwhelming emotion. And I loved the way he included the other contestants in his big moment.

It wasn't until after AI ended that I really learned about DC as a songwriter, when I got to hear Analog Heart. I am so amazed by the fact that he created that album without the help of a major studio and seemingly almost all on his own.

I expect to be a DC fan for a long time. He has the voice, the talent, the professionalism and the personality to take him very far.
