Chawan, I read your blog and really enjoyed it. I am tickled at how on many of these lines we seem to be looking through the same lens. Others, you provide more depth than I. Since you made it so easy by posting line by line the way I did, I am copying it here with my comments. Beating that horse to smitherenes, I know. But so fun.

Thanks for the comments.. and for the data! Glad you could find it, and my apologies for not spending enough time to find it, I often get lost in the process.
I like your analysis wordnurd teacher, and love how his lyrics can be spinned different ways. Will look at your comments again when time allows, gotta go back to RL right now.

A Daily Anthem

Here's an item that I think belongs in a blog... I would be interested in your take on this.. my interpretation of David Cook's "A Daily AntheM". I wrote a similar one soon after DCTR was released but it was in a thread and I want to have it closer at hand.

on The Transformation, Part Deux

Heliotrope, this is beautiful .. that first picture made me tear up. My fave picture of David until now, was the one I took of him breaking down at his high school football stadium. A beautiful pivotal moment for him. Now you've just topped it. Just wow. ADAM is my favorite song of David's (Permanent is the other fave.. but in a different league). Knowing this happened after ADAM is perfect. Just perfect. That's the exact kind of moment I was waiting for in Fulton, Mo. and ADAM was the song I was most excited about seeing for that exact reason.

Why I'm a Fan

I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...

My becoming a David Cook fan was a little late and not an instant thing, but nonetheless wonderful. I had never really kept up on AI and could probably only name a couple winners. The only reason I watched was because David grew up in the town I live in (Blue Springs), sparking a mild curiosity in me to check it out. I didn't catch a performance until March. I "didn't have time" for that kind of thing, and have never been a "fan" type before.

While I appreciated his talent on the stage that first couple of times I caught a glimpse, my opinion formed gradually over a few weeks. I was drawn in by all the backstories, and by the personal qualities that emerged concurrently with his performances. It seemed like I just kept discovering trait after trait, story after story, each one topping the last. And backstories/AI influences aside, I have never been this impressed by the totality of a musician's talent, groundedness, eloquence, and overall authenticity. Because of the merging of these factors, David Cook rose to a level, all-around, that no other musician had achieved in my mind. Listening to the studio version of Music Of The Night, sealed the deal. I wept. His voice is incredible.

I can sincerely say that, while my living in Blue Springs is the reason I was exposed to David Cook, that is not the reason I became a fan. David is the reason.

I think that the trait that I love best in David is his vulnerability (and the strength and courage that comes with that). I believe that David will change the music world by introducing a new style with an unusual angle.. one of sincerity, love, and a unique openness that moves the soul and channels positive change. I am so excited to see this story continue to unfold and witness that positive change in the "world surrounding David". My prayer for David is that he will be able to maintain his sense of humility and groundedness. I believe his family will help him with that.

I will forever be a Word Nerd, and will be proud to say so.
