Why am I obsessed with David Cook? It’s difficult to find words that do justice to what David brings to our lives. It’s so much more than his talented songwriting skills, his amazing voice, his high energy performances, his plethera of vocabulary words, his wry sense of humor, genuine love of his fans, illuminating smile, gorgeous soulful eyes...oh sorry, getting a little carried away. Seriously, it’s been so much FUN to watch this man’s dream come true. It’s so inspiring to watch another person’s life unfold in such a positive way. It just makes me want to be around him, to soak up some of that positive energy surrounding him; to be around the creative aura that seems to be carrying him through each phase of this fantastic ride.

Along with so many others, I feel like I know David. I mean, he spent two nights a week in my living room for most of the winter, serenading me, sometimes with his guitar (what do you mean he did that for you, too?). I watched as this self proclaimed “word nerd” worked hard at entertaining us each week, never taking himself too seriously. Finding out about his brother, Adam, only made him more real; proving that no one’s life is perfect. His love for his family serves as an example to us all.

Watching him live his dream makes me believe I can do the same. Seeing him do it with grace and dignity challenges me to follow his example. The passion for my own dreams has been reignited. David. Cook. Inspires. Me. That is why I am a fan.
