I'm a fan because...

David, you astound me.
You have introduced me to the world of music, of which I have never really been interested.
I had the TV on in the background, with the 7th season of Idol on, and I think it was the night of Top 12 guys. Anyway, even though I'd watched the auditions, and I liked your audition, that performance made me go "oh, I like how this guy sounds". I was hooked from there, and my interest only continued and developed.
Your self-growth, your intelligence ~not just a pretty face are you?~ and your humbleness continued to impress me. You used the Idol platform as a learning tool, and that shows dramatically on the end result.
Thank you for openning my eyes and ears to the world of music, you have managed to do something in one performance that no other artist has been able to do in 30 years. For that I applaud you and adore you!
