My Reviews & Blog

  • It's not that I don't like it... because in a lot of ways I do. I've liked what I've heard live, and I love watching the videos available.

I was immensly disappointed in Light On at first as well... but it's grown on me, and I listen to it more and more. Perhaps I will with the rest of the album.

I guess I was hoping for something harder. Something heavier, and not so "radio-friendly". With the musical influences Cook has cited, and with the emotion from his life that could be poured into songs, I was hoping for something with a lot more impact.

  • Sadly, I'm not overly impressed.

    It's drivel.

There's a couple of catchy tunes, but nothing of substance. In spite of lyrics by Chris Cornell, Raine Maida, Johnny Rzeznik... it's... a let down. I recognize the personal significance of some of the songs to Cook, and I do believe those are the best of the bunch...

And it's not so much that the lyrics or music are bad. Both are quite capably performed. My complaint is much more aesthetic.

David Cook has been neutered and disinfected.
