The Pageant was my last show of the DeTour (and an early B-Day present from the hubbin). We wound up doing a combo trip: Weekend with family then night out for the rock show. My goal was to soak in as much as I could and savor the entire night. It started simple enough: Drive in from rural MO and get ready to be blown away. Sadly, road closure and lack of detour almost killed the joy. Luckily, I got all Girl Scout and navigated (aka guessed) from the passenger seat to the ever patient man who supports my David Cook hobby.

Let me preface with this: I know jack-squat about the music industry, radio play, mediabase or billboard charts (except being at the top is good…right?). I could not tell you the difference between AC, HAC, CHR or XYZ. What I do know is what I like, what I don’t like and my general thoughts on various topics I know nothing about.

Hey, didn’t Oprah get sued back in the 90’s for saying something about meat on her show? The case revolved around a statement she made on her show that the cattle industry said unfairly harmed their business. At the time, I thought (and still sorta do), “what a crock of horse, er should I say, ‘bull’ sh*t”. Seriously, what corporate numb-nut would think that a TV maven wielded so much power that her words could take them down? Sure, we can blame a lot of things on Oprah (including unleashing Dr. Phil…thanks Oprah), but seriously, taking down an entire industry? Not so much.

Consistently, my favorite part of reading a blog, article, or review has been the comments section. Oh man, can you learn a lot about our culture from the comments section! The other day over at MJ’s, she posted under her headline section an article/blog laced with a rather snarky (if not full on scathing) commentary about certain fans…not all fans, just certain fans…and a few were called out by group name. Not being able to recall the full content that was written, it had something to do with backlash from fans when their favorite is criticized in the media.

Okay, with that, I have an ode to the S&B. Mind you, I am no KDC, but I did the best I could. *Clears throat*
It's my Declaration that this gem will be missed. Heroes come and go, but S&B is still standing in our hearts, minds, and assorted extremities. So, we leave a Light On blazing bright, we raise our voices high in a chorus: Come Back To Me! It's been like Life On the Moon since you morphed us all into quivering little jello bits. Oh, S&B, you will be missed.
