Its called ESCAPISM and it makes me HAPPY!

I'm really glad to be a David Cook fan. Everyday, there is something or other to put a smile on my face. I could be on the train on the way to work and listening to his music or remembering a video clip or an interview or some banter from the tour and I'd be smiling like an idiot for no apparent reason! My text message ringtone is David saying he's about to be exposed and THAT puts a huge grin on my face.

I heard Terry on KCRadio and I downloaded the audio thanks to the DC fandom and that baby is now on my cell so that I can listen to it whenever (my cell's my mp3 player). I literally laughed out loud at the one physical AB comment and I choked on a muffin when Andrew asked Terry if he liked Michael Jackson and Terry answered with "Who?"

David Cook makes me happy and I guess that's the main reason why I'm still a fan. And to think I had actually RESISTED thudding for the LONGEST time! I know how I get when I start liking a singer/celeb, it takes up a HUGE chunk of my time and mental energy so when I watched David on AI, I was pretty firm with myself about remaining a CASUAL fan. Usually when AI ends and I'm not a fan of any one of the contestants, I like to be pleasantly surprised when so-and-so puts out a record or I hear their songs on the radio.

So I resisted thudding for the longest time with David. I looked out for him each week and I refused to go to any message boards or fansites, I just read a few official sites here and there. I never knew what David was going to sing ahead of time, I never knew his back story, I was spared a lot of the angsting and that was exactly HOW I wanted it to be. Casual fan enjoying the show for what it is. But alas, resistance is futile when it comes to Cook!

Right around Top 3 week, I started panicking about not getting to see David every week for much longer. And I started getting worried whether or not he would win the whole thing. That's when I realised I had thudded without even realising it! *facepalm* I told myself I'll just go on the message boards to download his performances, I wanna save those but I WON'T participate in any discussion. I'll just look at the pictures BUT I won't save any of them. NOW, I have an external drive chock full of David videos and pictures. I won't tell you how many pictures I have cos even *I'm* afraid to know how many I have! Lol! So much for resisting!

I'm very glad I'm a fan because many aspects of this entire obsession (I hesitate to use that word cos it has negative connotations) make me happy. I will admit to STILL resisting at times, and trying to CURB the obsession but who am I kidding? Lol! I call it ESCAPISM. It may not be entirely healthy but it makes me happy so I'm just gonna go with it.
