Amazing show!

on David Cook Debut Album One Year Anniversary

The anniversary show was absolutely amazing. I feel so blessed to have been there. It was a truly special experience. Thankfully, my camera was cooperating with me at this concert and I got some of my best shots ever. Check them out on Flickr:

"Oh, hi -- again . . ."

Biloxi - check. Cedar Falls - check. Next up . . . Waverly. It's my third show in 10 days and I'm alright with that. After trekking to Cedar Falls alone, my drive to Waverly is an entirely different experience. Two of my close "real life" friends (fringe fans of David's), decide to come along. And we pick up Jules425 and Porcelain on the way up. You can practically feel the excitement in the air during the 2 1/2 hour drive from Des Moines.

UNI and a kiss on the neck!

I like to think that I’m a pretty nice person. Someone who’s willing to help others. You know, a stand-up kind of gal. So, I’m going to chalk this whole experience to karma – from the fact that David’s playing a show in Iowa to the experience of meeting him after the show. So, here’s how it all went down . . . run to the bathroom, grab a cup of cocoa, whatever – this story’s going to take a while to tell!

Valentine's Day in Biloxi

Patience has never been my strong suit. So, when the tour dates were FOREVER in coming & I found out about David’s show at the Beau Rivage, I was in. First hurdle: convincing the hubby that the trip was a good idea. Thanks to the brutal Iowa winter we’re in the midst of, he was an easy sell. Here’s how it went:

Me: How would you like to take me to Biloxi for Valentine’s Day?
Him: Why?
Me: :::big s***-eating grin:::
Him: David Cook?
Me: Maybe.
Him: :::thinks I hate the cold & Biloxi’s warm, I love Cajun food, David Cook’s music is good::: Yeah. Okay.

OMG! What's with the super HOT performances when you're on the Ellen DeGeneres show, David? Your post-Idol Ellen performance of TWIK was fabulous. Now, you go and execute Light On better than I've ever heard it ... again on Ellen's show. You've put this put this professional writer at a complete loss for words. WOW, nice work!

Why I'm a Fan

Why am I a fan? I simply have no choice.

Have you HEARD David sing? Have you HEARD the songs David's written? Have you WATCHED the way David's handled himself as he's been thrust into the spotlight -- suddenly getting what has to be almost surreal amounts of attention for something he's been doing for years? The better question would be WHY WOULD I NOT BE A FAN OF DAVID COOK?

David's got an amazing voice. It can be beautiful and haunting. It can express emotion and make you feel like he's exposing his soul to the world -- and just to you. It's a voice filled with texture -- a slight growl that turns me to Jello, gives me chills and makes me weak in the knees. But he's more than just a voice...

The man's intelligent and expressive. The songs that David's written (for Analog Heart and in his Axium days) show a maturity beyond what I'd expect from someone so young. He seems to find just the right words to convey the message.

Most importantly, David's either one of the nicest celebrities today or a dang fine actor (or maybe, just maybe, we'll be lucky enough to find out that he's both). The circumstances that David's managed since he began his Idol journey could certainly put a ton of stress on a young man. Privacy, none. Down time, none. Sleep, none. Pressure, enormous. All the attention, overwhelming. Yet, David has been gracious along every step of his journey and show no signs of succumbing to the pressures of fame.

So no more gushing. No more blabbering. Why am I a fan? I simply have no choice.
