The funniest part of this whole thing is that I never watched idol. I had never found any singers I could get behind in the past, and the not having extra money lying around for cable definately factored in. A week or so before the finale, a dear friend of mine who understands just how deeply I feel music sent me a link to David's performance of "Always Be My Baby" with the simple instrauctions- you need to watch this. I don't think she had any idea what she was getting me involved in. After watching that performance, I youtubed the rest of the season, and was consistently blown away not only by David's talent, but his humility and sense of humor. I came across Analog Heart, which became instrumental in my healing after a rough breakup. I found myself becoming more and more invested in the idol tour, and eventually ended up going to 4 shows.

Most importantly, I am a fan because I have become a better person this summer. I became a captain for the Summer Challenge with the American Cancer Society, and met some truly phenomenal people along the way. I flew out to Kansas City for the Unite2Fight Benefit, and despite hardly any sleep, it will go down in my history as one of the most rewarding events in my life.

I'm a fan of David because in addition being a immensly talented artist, he is an amazing human being with a huge heart. Just look at what he has inspired fans to do. Thanks for changing our lives for the better, David.
