I have written online passionately about your incredible Gift as a singer, writer and performer, from the perspective of vocal coach/singer/pianist/former rock musician and writer/current classical singer. I wax poetic about your dramatic tenor instrument, and rightfully so. It is a Force to be reckoned with.
But your Gift is not only these (somewhat) tangible and extraordinary musical attributes.
Your greatest Gift is that YOU are a Force. Not just your Gift.

This is one of the best songs on the album!!! it lifts me and even makes me think of the Lord!!!
Beeeeaauuuuutiful, stirring song from the Brilliant Mr Cookie!!!!! We love you, David!!! You're astonishing... and the long note on "fall" is just unparalleled. (except by David Cook!!!)
You sure know how to sing a bridge!!! This song is brain food!!! the whole CD is.

He sings this one with such testosterone!!!!!!! What a VOICE and what a beautiful, sexy MAN. I always loved this song - Paul Rodgers is hard to top, but DC did it b/c he has the most beautiful yet powerful timbre to his voice, and is physically gorgeous to boot (which PR unfortunately isn't!)! Cookie is an astonishing talent. WOW. I can't believe that some people out there don't get how GOOD he is and how significant his gift is. !!!

Why I'm a Fan

Well I recognized immediately (and was driving friends crazy I'm sure!) how brilliant an artist our Mr Cook was.... I am a former vocal scholarship winner (classical soprano) and also play piano and have coached a lot of singers. I played and sang in bands too when I was young. and did opera and musical theater intermittently.
David is an extraordinary vocal talent with a huge dramatic tenor voice - spinning vibrato and CRAZY beautiful overtones - and equally gifted as a writer. A truly AMAZING artist and I don't understand certain "critics" out there who obviously can't HEAR correctly because they don't even mention this unusual, phenomenal Voice!!!!! He can put that rock "edge" into the voice while it is spinning with gorgeous, super-free vibrato. This is not done by anyone else in this way. His high notes are unparalleled. His lower voice is beautiful and velvet-y and unusually dark for a tenor but such is the dramatic voice.
The singing he does regularly is HARD!!!! It comes easily to David and he is seemingly so down to earth and kind. I think he is the best new artist to come along in a LONG LONG time.... perhaps he will be taken seriously on his next record when the phenomenon doesn't die away but indeed grows!
He has the Best Voice I have EVER HEARD....in any genre. Period. Huge for me to say this as a vocal coach but easy. It's true!!!!
