You know I love your musical deconstructions. Can't wait for the next one! Maybe LOTM? That one doesn't get talked about too often but seems to be a lot of people's favorite ones.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I paid $150 for the VIP package but the tickets to the show were $20 before ticketmater fees. David's show in Denver was $30 before fees, so it was similar. David's venue was a little bigger, about 1600 and the Gothic where I saw Daughtry was about 1000. The show was sold out so I imagine the full 1000 was there.

A little late but here is my Daughtry recap.
This past Sunday I ventured out into my first of three concert experiences I will have this month. First up was Daughtry who played at a small club close to my house. I had always wanted to see one of his shows and with a fortunate stop on their warm up club tour sounded perfect to me. I also decided to go for the whole experience and bought a VIP ticket which allowed me to go to soundcheck and a meet & greet.

Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. It really helps someone non musical like me understand why I like certain things in songs. the latest version of Lie is just sublime and I think they made all the right choices in how to play it. I recall a review of the album and the citric said that Lie was a great song but that the dynamics and percussion kind of jump the gun in the second half of the song. And listening to all these versions I have to agree that the album version is a bit too loud and not as delicate as the live version with all the different breaks and changes.

My thoughts...
I'm in a curious spot in my musical taste, I'm a lover of rock music, particularly hard rock and not so much soft rock. I really dislike pop music but I love dance music so if song is more in the pop side of life I want it hard hitting, fierce, turned up a couple notches and all that. I prefer most dance remixes of pop songs, seems to elevate the beat and edges to the song. That said, what makes a good pop song for me is the beat, not the hook. The vocals have to be pleasant and not annoying and definitely not too repetitive.
