So of course I tend to dismiss "fate" as well.
But I think it's part of the whole narrative that justifies a certain degree of loyalty. I quite deliberately refer to it as "Davidian exceptionalism" because I think it shares a lot of traits with American exceptionalism:
1) David Cook was uniquely prepared to win Idol, not simply because he was smart, experienced, and focused, but because he had the STRONGEST connection, the most GENEROUS spirit, and many more traits that not only his season's contenders, but all seven seasons' , did not have.

One of my favorite moments in the whole concert was when David, after rocking out on a couple of songs, looked down at her in the audience, grinned, and said, "Hi, Mom."
And so is he.

[Holding up a] Scottie (or other puppy):
A particularly CJT way of expressing that a post should be taken as a joke. Refers to Cook's decision to name his Scottish terrier Dublin because he thought it would be funny, and the confusion when several people didn't recognize the humor as such.

He's also expressed a hope that he'll be "putting up an award shelf" come Grammy time next year. Some people thought that sounded arrogant, and the immediate response was, a) "Well, wouldn't he want that to be true?" and b) "Do we expect him to say he doesn't deserve one?"

But what if I don't *like* salad dressing?
I hope that whatever may be keeping you from hanging out is of relatively short duration.
