I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...What a voice! All smooth.... & gritty, and.... Oooohh.
O.K., I'm fine now...
....back to the subject at hand.
First, let's just start with the fact that last season was my third season of watching of AI. I had enjoyed it in the past but I always thought it was rather pretentious when the contestants would refer to the viewers as their fans. I just didn't get it - I mean, no one ever really became fans of these contestants, did they?
Well, I get it now. I can't believe how much of a fan I have become. My husband thinks it's pretty amusing.
It started, as most things do, at the beginning.
The audition. Yes, he had me way before hello. There he was in his argyle sweater vest & his red faux-hawk; he spoke & I immediately thought "this might be interesting." Then he sang. I loved his audition; I knew then, that (for me, at least), he was definitely the one to watch. There were others I liked, as well, but he was the one I couldn't wait to see each week. His voice just speaks to me (actually, his voice sings to me - but, you know what I mean).
He is pure pleasure.
He is a pleasure to hear - Whether he is singing, or speaking, or laughing... there is just something in the tone of his voice that makes me want to listen to him.
He is a pleasure to watch - Yes, he is very aesthetically pleasing, but I won't go into all of his physical attributes, because it is so much more than that. It is the way he is so comfortable with who he is, it is the way he doesn't leave anyone out, how he sweeps everyone up in his arms and takes them along with him. He took us (me) along with him on each performance; he made it all feel so.... personal. When he is on the stage, no one else exists; I am fascinated, I am enthralled, I am captivated; I cannot turn away.
I could not wait, each week, to hear what gift he would offer - and, oh, the gifts he gave us. Almost every single one of his AI performances was beyond anything I ever expected to see on that show. There will never be another AI season to equal David's season.
As I watched David on AI, I recogized that he was clearly a man with both talent and experience; realizing this made me want to hear what had come before. Discovering and exploring his pre-AI music was revelatory & exciting. I found myself listening to AH repeatedly, and I am still getting to know his Axium music.
Ahhh, one more thing; Charisma. He has more charisma than is prudent for any one man to be in possession of. David - use your power for good.
November 18th yet?
I've pre-ordered 2 CDs - one for my daughter & one for me. I think I need to order a couple more - for gifts, you know (just in time for Christmas). And iTunes, of course. Can't forget that.
Aaaaahhhh, the voice. Love the voice!
