I am a huge fan of DC because he is the first vocalist I can say I really have been attracted to in many many years...maybe even my entire adult life. Other artists were already established before I began to appreciate them. There was something so special about being able to witness the whole transformation of DC from the hesitatant contestant at the beginning of the AI season to the self-assured David we saw by the end of the AI season. I watched him week after week on AI and was so completely transfixed by watching this amazing emergence of his talent. Without a doubt, in my opinion, the largest outpouting of talent we hadn't previously seen was when he delivered the "Hello" performance. That performance completely blew my mind. I must have replayed that on my TV 10 times that night. I couldn't believe that he could take that Lionel Ritchis ballad from the 80's and compeltely transform it with such magic and penetration of such deep emotions. At that point I knew we were in for the ride of our lives to see what he could put together each week!! My two other favorites in the same category were his renditions of "Billy Jean" and of course, "Always Be my Baby". I am hoping that we will get to hear more of these classics on his upcoming tours and albums.
Another layer of David that makes him so appealing has been his genuine humbleness and his surprise that he shared with all of us as his success was becoming apparent. He was like a flower blooming that was amazed and surprised by its own budding. I'm sure I was one of many millions who sat glued to our TV's wek after week completely assured that we were watching a star be born.
As David's personality began to emerge, I was completetly amazed again by the many layers of David there really are. Not only is he super-talented musically, but he is graced with many other positive attributes not often seen (especialy in such abundance) in our entertaininment world. He is intelligent, he has his feet on the ground; he has common sense; he has great wit and humor; he thinks on his feet; he cares about people; he has gratitude; he is passioninate and compassionite; he cares for his family; he is a real man. He is actually someone we can look up to. He is someone I would like to get to know. He seems like a person I would want to call my friend.
Finally, I want to say that I am a pianist, and I have been playing all of David's songs on the piano as he performed them on AI. I remember the night I sat down and played "Hello" in the arrangement that he had sung it. I knew I was totally hooked on David Cook! I have been working on nice arrangments of all his songs, and I am hoping that when he comes to Clevelend on concert, I can play with him......my dream....dream on!!!! I have done some recording, written some music, played with different groups, accompanied a lof of singers over the years, but to play with DC - that would be the ultimtae!!!!
Back to his music....When I hear him sing and play his guitar, there is something so pure raw and rich about his music and the emotions he is able to convey that I can't really put it into words. I'm sure that is the biggest reason I am a huge David Cook fan!!!!!
Avalanche is my Favorite, Hands Down
I love several of the songs but Avalance is by far my favorite. I agree that it's got all the elements to be a longstanding classic hit. Who could not be drawn into the romance and intensity of this song? Just wait till the public starts hearing it on the radio. It will skyrocket. You've done it again, Daivd. It is just beautiful beyond words.
