Kinky Boots ended its run at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 7th – after six years and six Tony Awards (including Best Musical) – as the 25th longest-running production in Broadway history.

David, who made his Broadway debut in the hit musical in April 2018 for a limited run (later reprising his starring role as Charlie Price for another limited run that ended with Cook taking his final bow September 9, 2018), joined his Kinky Boots family to celebrate at Gotham Hall in New York City, following the show’s final performance on Sunday.

David took to social media to share some of his thoughts on the day.

I took this photo after I had auditioned in November of 2017 for @kinkybootsbway, convinced I had dropped the ball on the audition, and this was as close as I’d get to the show. Little did I know what was on the other side of this picture. From walking into my first day of rehearsal, scared shitless and convinced I was about to show just how much I was in over my head, to being in tears when it was time to leave Price & Son, I cannot thank this show enough for the opportunity to help tell this story and share its message.
