Finding a cure for brain tumors and providing support to brain tumor patients and their families is a cause that’s very close to David’s heart. David has been a staunch supporter of the cause since 2009, participating every year in the Race for Hope-DC, rappelling down a skyscraper in San Diego as part of ABC2’s Over the Edge for Brain Cancer, and hosting other various fundraisers all in memory of his older brother, Adam, who passed away from the disease. Since 2009, David and his fans have raised nearly $1.5 million for brain cancer and brain tumor research through the Race for Hope and other fundraising projects.
In March, it was announced that this year’s Big Slick Celebrity Weekend was cancelled due to the corona virus pandemic. Because pediatric cancer doesn’t take a year off, this year, David is excited to join hosts Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet, David Koechner and their celebrity guests for a special online fundraising campaign called “Big Slick at Home,” June 5-14, 2020. This will be David’s fifth year participating in Big Slick, with all proceeds benefiting the Cancer Center at Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City.
The 2020 Chris Evert / Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic was canceled due to COVID-19.
In 2021, look for David and his fellow stars from the tennis and entertainment worlds to return to this fun charity event that raises money ($24+ million, since 1989) to fund programs for at-risk children and their families.
