There is only one language that can be understood worldwide. Only one craze on this Earth that everyone loves, that no one hates. This astonishing 'thing' is the only way on Earth for people to connect, to be educated, emotionally manipulated, persuaded, informed and attached to every other person on this planet.
Music is Life.
No one dislikes music; there isn’t a day that goes by when someone isn’t directly affected by a piece of music. It reminds us of good times, bad times, makes us content, cheerless, helps us through our dark days and reflect on our success.
The musicians are the music makers, without them sharing their stories, heartache, sharing their lives with the public; we would have no escapism, no dreams, and no imagination.
David Cook, a bartender and part-time, semi-professional musician from Tulsa, USA. Through his music a connection was made, across the television airways, across sea and land, thousands of miles, he found me and made me look up and pay attention.
American Idol, David showed how the game should be ‘played’ that songs should never be ‘cloned’ but ‘reproduced.’ He took songs and found his own meanings, related them to his own experiences and made the songs his own.
Pre-Idol, he was on his way to stardom, I have no doubt in my mind that had ‘Idol’ never occurred I would have stumbled across his myspace eventually, and felt the same way about his music that I do now. His music touched my very soul, hearing ‘makeover’ for the first time, I sat in silence and truly listened to every little part of the song, the vocal melody, rhythm, tone, dynamics and lyrics, once the track finished, I leant back in my chair, still in silence and could not believe how someone who I have never met, someone from so far away could encompass so many emotions and actions that I myself had been playing out for years.
As a musician, I can sympathise, I understand how hard it is to take that first step on the ladder to becoming someone in the public eye. I understand how much it means to be able to do nothing but the one thing you love more than anything, the one thing that makes you get up in the morning, the thing that keeps you alive.
David Cook deserves all the compliments in the World, and I truly believe that he could ‘take over the World.’ The anticipation for new music from David is almost to much to bear, I know he is going to stay true to himself and write music that is valid, music that people will remember and music that people will connect to, across the World.
